“Hold the door, say please, say thank you,
Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie.
I know you’ve got mountains to climb but,
Always stay humble and kind”.
-Tim McGraw
Country music isn’t only about the summertime fun, the beer, and our great country of America. It’s not only consistent of southern accents and slipping on cowboy boots. Country music lyrics are morally respectable words to live by, and they provide happiness and comfort for the soul.
I love to listen to country music. I was born in the South in Texas, and my dad used to play old time country like George Straight, and dance with me in the living room to it. Every time I hear it, its a huge pleasure to my ears. I can turn on Florida Georgia Line or Jason Aldean and hear the joyous lyrics about having a great summer and being at the beach. But what I really love about country music lyrics is that if you really listen to them, they are words to live by.
“Don’t take for granted the love this life gives you,
When you get where you’re going, don’t forget, turn back around.”
-Tim McGraw
I’ll give you a few examples. Zac Brown Band’s song, “Tomorrow Never Comes” has a line that sings, “I can’t say where the next bend might be, that is the beauty in life’s mystery”. Another example is a Rascal Flatts song, “Bless the Broken Road”, it says, “This much I know is true, that God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you”. The saddest country songs have helped me get through a tough situation, because it helps you cope and let your sadness out. To make yourself feel better, you blast “Sun Daze” by Florida Georgia Line to make yourself smile.
Another thing I love most about country music is that it’s great for the soul and the spirit. It brings people to sing together and have a good time. Whenever it’s a cold, wintery day, I love to blast “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere” in my car or “Knee Deep” by Zac Brown Band to remind myself of sunny summer days that will be here closer than I think. Some lyrics such as “Don’t take the love that live gives you for granted” by Tim McGraw shows that country lyrics have lines in their songs that people should live by.
“We’re all in this world together,
Life’s a gift that we have to treasure,
Happiness, now that is the measure,
Love is a remedy”.
-Zac Brown Band
I can’t get everyone to like this type of music, but these lyrics are words to live by in your day-to-day life. Country music has led me through the greatest memories and the most upsetting situations. It brings people together to dance, sing, and love one another.
