You might not be able to tell by looking at her; you might not even be able to tell by talking to her. There's no southern drawl or hay in her hair, but if you know her you can tell that her roots are firmly planted somewhere down a mile-long driveway on the outskirts of a small town.
She may look like a girly girl, maybe she even owns more makeup than most people think is practical. She probably can spend just as much time in the mall as she can getting ready. She probably loves to go to brunch, get dressed up, and maybe even drives a fancy car. She probably loves to travel and study new things just as much as she loves her private school and white house next to a golf course.
But beneath her love for all of those stereotypical things, there's a different side of her. There's a girl who would rather let her freckles see the sunshine than wear her makeup. There's a girl who's comfortable on a quad, loves to cook, and is always up for some friendly competition. There's a girl who loves a night out on the town just as much as she loves a night spent watching movies and eating junk food. There's a girl who takes her guitar out of its case in her room at night when no one else is around. There's a girl who falls asleep on the back porch swing listening to a thunderstorm. There's a girl who goes barefoot and picks wild blackberries. There's a girl who loves animals and isn't afraid to get a little muddy. There's a girl who bows her head every night before bed. There's a girl who knows every back road to her house just because it's more fun than taking the highway.
So be careful before you assume she's never cannon-balled into a lake, driven her daddy's truck, or competed in the county fair just because she's wearing pearls. Don't be surprised when she can out-shoot you or knows all the words to some old George Strait song. You can take her far away from where she belongs, but just remember that her heart is always going to belong to that little town she was raised in. She loves God, her family, and her friends, and she's sweeter than sweet tea. She really is the best of both worlds, so if you're lucky enough to a know a country-city girl, don't ever let her go.
