Every year as humans we have many things happen to us: both good and bad. We lose and gain friends, have loved ones pass away, ace and fail tests, learn new things about the world and ourselves, and have successes and failures. While every year brings setbacks and sadness, stress and sorrow, the blessings and triumphs surely outnumber the setbacks and failures. As the year is close to an end, while there is negative things that impact all of our lives, I choose to focus on the people who I met this year who changed my life for the better, the people who constantly bless my life and the successes I have had this year.

For one, at the end of 2016 I got promoted from a Programming Assistant to a Resident Assistant. While I loved being a Programming Assistant in Founders Hall, leading Hall Council and planning building wide events, I was so beyond happy when my boss told me that I had been promoted to a Resident Assistant. The end of last school semester, in the spring, I took over the hall of an RA who left. While it was great to get to know my residents and to plan events to build community on my hall, I didn't truly realize how much I loved being an RA until now. This year I got my own hall and was able to build a family on my hall. I also am so glad that I can help freshman have a smoother transition into college. The best part of being an RA is that the Founders Family is always there for me and I always have people to hang out with. While I am a supporter for my residents, I also have a support system as well.

I also met one of my best friends at RA training this fall. I may not have known Laurel for my whole life, but after just five months she has become one of my best friends. We literally do everything together, from making each other do our laundry, to going to get food, to grocery store runs, to having homework parties and having movie nights almost every night. We also have so much in common, from our love of horror movies, and Nicholas Sparks, to our love for Christmas. I love Laurel and I am honestly so blessed to have her in my life. If you need to find me, just find Laurel because I am most likely by her side.

I also finally got a little (a little sister) in my sorority Alpha Xi Delta. My little Peyton and I are almost exactly the same person, except the fact that she loves sports and I never watch them. We both love Teen Wolf and American Horror Story, and only drink flavored coffee, and have so many other things in common. I've been wanting a little for so long, but I am so glad I waited for Peyton. I remember that she put something on her Snapchat about Teen Wolf one day and I replied back and we both started snapchatting each other non-stop and fangirling. Then we had a Teen Wolf marathon and couldn't stop hanging out after that. Not only is Peyton my little, but she has also become one of my best friends, and I am so grateful for her.

Recently I also got accepted for The Disney Leadership Alternate Spring Break Trip, so I will hopefully going to one of my favorite places, Disney World for spring break.

Lastly, most recently, I got elected for a Vice President Position for my sorority. I can't wait to see what being on the Executive Board will bring me and to see how much I will grow.

This year, like every year, had some rain but it also had a lot of rainbows as well. I can't wait to see what awaits for me, next year, in another chapter of my life.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
