I Could Never Pull That Off

Your style tells people a little bit about you, without ever having to say a word.

I Could Never Pull That Off

"I could never pull that off."

"You look so darling, but I could never wear that."

"I wish I was confident enough to wear things like that."

Those are just a few of the things I hear almost on a daily basis when it comes to my style, the way I dress, and even how I choose to wear my hair

Now I'm saying my style is NYFW worthy, because it's not.

But what it is, is mine. It's everything I like and nothing that I don't.

I don't wear clothes to appease other people or to try and fit in, it's all for me.

I'm kind of selfish like that.

It's no secret, well if you know me anyway, that I love clothes. I have more than a closet full to prove it, but I'm not exactly a trend follower nor do I pay attention to what's "In" and what's not.

I wear what speaks to me. And as crazy as that sounds, hear me out.

You see, there is only one secret (in my opinion) to wearing something and owning it, even if it's something other people are going to stare at you for wear.

YOU have to be excited about it and YOU have to love it. That's it.

I wear things that I love, I wear things that make me excited to wear them.

Literally, when I get dressed I do a little dance in my room afterwards because putting on something I love just gives me this instant surge of energy and confidence! I might even strike a pose.

I'm not even joking.

It's like being a kid in a candy store. When you see something that catches your eye, you want it and once you have it you walk around giddy with excitement and show it off to anyone and everyone you see.

That's what it's like for me.

And that's what it should be like for you too!

I understand that jobs are a different story, most have a dress code and such. Whatever.

But what about when you aren't there? Why should you wear something sensible and boring... Because you are afraid of what others might say?

Key word there, MIGHT!

Secret: most often when you wear an outfit you love people are going to give you a compliment, because when you love it so do they! Because it's written all over you that you clearly love it and could care less if they do.

Trends in society will always come and go, but style is something that lasts forever.

Your style, whatever it may be, might evolve but it'll always be yours. It's one of those things that's impossible to directly copy because no one can rock it quite like you do.

Stop being afraid to wear whatever style clothing that makes you feel the most like you.

Wear things that get you excited to put them on! Fill your closet with clothing that you love and it'll never be a drag to get dressed again.

You'll always have something to wear instead of nothing to wear. (Actually, who am I kidding, there will still be times when you have absolutely nothing to wear in a closet full of clothing. That's just the way the cookie crumbles ladies.)

But still, wear things you absolutely love!

And they don't always have to be brand new either. Some of my most treasured pieces came from a thrift store for about $5. No joke.

Clothing isn't just something that covers your body, it's a way for you to speak without saying a word.

Your style gives an insight into who you are, just a little bit anyway.

It makes people want to get to know you, or maybe not if that's your thing.

But whatever it is or whatever it says, it's yours and you should own it.

Stop caring what others think or what their opinion will be, there is only one opinion that matters and He isn't of the flesh.

And He will always love you no matter what.

What you wear might be a small thing in the grand scheme of the world, but it's a small thing that can make a HUGE difference!

If you don't believe me, go put on something you absolutely love.

How do you feel?

Like you can conquer the world?

I thought so.

XOXO

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
