Costa Rica!!!

Spring Break is literally around the corner and I need it like melons need water. . .

After just over two months of what was arguably the worst time of my life, spring break is coming to save me. Honestly, university has become such a stress! I can't go a day without worrying about an upcoming assignment, due date, midterm, or job shift. Am I doing too much? Probably, but I can forget about it all in a week!

If it wasn't already obvious, Costa Rica, here I come! I am seriously so excited to travel to this new destination. It was never on any bucket list but that doesn't mean I am not entirely stoked to go. Get out of this crappy Los Angeles rain that has plagued us for months now. Ugh! I feel like I complain about the rain here so much despite being from Ohio. It's probably because I came here to ESCAPE the crappy weather. Alas, my efforts have failed me.

Luckily, the forecast for Costa Rica appears to be clean, clear, and sunny! Everything I need for a week of relaxation. I have a bunch of cool things planned to do with my family like rain forest hikes, waterfall visits, zip lining through the tree tops (oh yeah), and just beaches, beautiful beaches. This post feels more like a blog post or the script to a young Youtube vlog video, but I felt a change of pace was necessary. This will also be short, but expect a HUGE review post after I come back (maybe with a little update in the middle).

Point is, I'm happy I have this opportunity to spend some time with my family in a beautiful and luscious foreign country that isn't too far from home. I'm not entirely a fan of really long plane rides, or at least my behind isn't a fan (stiff seats). I can't wait to come back with plenty of fun memories and exciting experiences to talk about with my friends back in what I hope to be a nicer L.A. We'll see. Well, cheers to the first half of Spring semester being over and good luck to all traveling for their breaks!

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.

Despite the cold, you might find that there is a lot to love about winter.

We all have a love hate relationship with winter, lets be real here. The snow makes people forget how to drive, its cold, the roads are bad, and chances are, you will be spending a lot more money than you do during the other months of the year. If you’re from the Midwest, it seems to be that winter lasts for what feels like forever. But despite the struggles that winter brings, there are so many things to love about it.

The Post Thanksgiving Panic And Anxiety

It happens to all of us, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas the catch up with you.

Thanksgiving Break is most likely everyone’s favorite break during the fall semester. You get to go home and reminisce with all your high school friends. That diet you’ve been on for the past month goes out the window, and you get to eat until you put yourself into a food coma. There’s no rush on homework and you can just lie in bed and Netflix to your heart’s content. To me that sounds like an ideally wonderful break, and totally stress-free.
