To Cosplay or Not to Cosplay
From the outside, cosplay looks crazy, ridiculous, and just plain geeky but in reality it’s so much more than that. To someone who doesn’t understand the art or joy of cosplay it doesn’t make sense to spend hundreds of dollars on bringing a character to life but for those dedicated to it, it gives them a lot of pride when they successfully pull it off.
Cosplaying is a lot of fun and it gives lots of people the chance to come together and express their creativity.
It also allows people to support their fandoms with other like-minded people. It's an opportunity to let loose, be confident and just have fun.
It’s a way for upcoming actors or actresses to get performing experience.
It allows fans to ask important questions they wouldn’t normally get to ask.
It allows fans to purchase exclusive memorabilia.
It allows new artists and experienced artists to sell their work in person which gives them a chance to be found by an agent or to just get more business.
It’s a way to make new friends with people.
It’s an important time when people will come together, without their cell phones or any kind of technology.
From the outside, cosplaying may seem lame but in reality there's a lot more to it, especially where conventions are concerned.
