19 Reasons Why Corgis Are The Best

I'll admit, I wasn't always a Corgi lover. In fact, I was a self-confessed large dog lover since I had grown up with a Golden Retriever and then a Border Collie. The first time we saw Sadie we were just sure she was mixed with something else. Her ears were droopy and her legs seemed perfectly proportionate; she did not have the characteristics of a Corgi. Slowly but surely however, her ears stiffened up, her nose stretched out, and every part of her body got larger besides her legs.

But while she transformed, so did I. I became a member of...the Corgi Cult. This is the group that all Corgi owners who are obsessed with their dog become a part of. These are the people that create Instagram pages for their pups, who record them doing the darnedest things, and who gather at Corgi conventions around the country. To the outside world, we might seem insane. But we have every reason to be as infatuated with these creatures as we are... and here are a few of them.

1. They get just as excited about autumn as we do.

You're lying to yourself if you say you didn't react similarly to the first color change of leaves or the release of the pumpkin spice latte.

2. ...and winter.

The first sign of snow, they get more excited than a kid in a candy shop.

3. Until they realize the snow is the same height as them.

Then they react similarly to college students walking through it on the way to class, "nope, nope, nope."

4. Their ears have a mind of their own.

I know exactly when Sadie is mad, sad, angry, happy, tired, all due to her ears.

4. They're so lazy.

The attitude we have after a long day of work or class is exactly the same attitude Corgis have...all the time.

5. They often experience ghost attacks.

This can include but is not limited to randomly having the urge to run rampantly from one side of the room to the other, barking into thin air and violent twitching.

6. Typically they go with the flow and put up with their master's shenanigans.

Want to dress them up in a sweater? Sure! Want to push them down a children's slide? Go for it! Want to place them in a swing? Be my guest!

7. When they sit on their hind legs, they transform into a new animal.

No longer a Corgi but a miniature kangaroo slash penguin type thing!

8. They're so curious.

Don't think you can sneak the holiday decorations past these guys! They notice every little change from a rearranging of furniture to a scary pair of boots left where they shouldn't be.

9. They turn everything into a game.

"OK, so this bone right here? It's actually a ferocious bear and it's my duty to save the family from it."

10. They're fearless.

11. They're majestic.

12. They get just as excited about food as humans do.

"Oh my goodness it's...KIBBLE!"

13. They are perfectly proportioned for costumes.

No matter what you subject them to wearing, they will look cute.

14. They're clumsy.

Falling flat on your face has never looked this cute.

15. They sometimes decide that laying with their legs straight behind them is comfortable.

I may not be a Corgi, but something tells me that this cannot possibly be the case...

16. Their butts.

17. They're regal.

18. They're protective.

Nothing is as vicious as a Corgi bounding and barking towards you, right?

19. And they love you just as much as you love them.

So here's to you, you beautiful creatures.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.
