Why And How To Stay Authentic

One Planet Earth, and One of you.

Why And How To Stay Authentic
azhari.typepad.com
October 2016, it is believed that this planet is 4.543 billion years old. Have you ever thought about how many people have come to this Earth and left?

Now think about how many of those people were exactly the same?

None! Not one person that comes to this planet is ever the same as another. You have your own voice, your very unique way of movement, for example how you walk or position you sleep in ,and even an individual DNA code that no one else in this world can have, only you have it. So now, why would you want to be just like someone else when you can just be you? If you have once or ever come to question your authenticity or if you didn't even know you had one, here is some helpful advice to finding it.

1) Meet and get to Love Yourself

I know this may sound a little cliché, but this is the most important part of being you. If you do not know who you are then you don't know what you stand and live for. Experience different things, be open to new ideas and people. Whatever it takes, just find your passion! Also, very importantly: make sure you embrace the way you look and love every bit of your personality.

2) Chin up

No matter what this world throws at you, be the bravest and most courageous you can possibly be, and leave whatever doesn't make you smile behind; it's not worth keeping. Take every single little thing that happens to you as a lesson, there is no such thing as time wasted or bad decisions. You took those decisions for a reason and they will now make you, you. Always have that chin up no matter what happens.

3) Be you

Be the most real you can be. Stay you even if it creeps people out. The best way to describe humans is as puzzle pieces. Some people are going to think you may be the weirdest creature alive, and that is okay! Your puzzle piece just doesn't fit theirs, it doesn't have to. You will find your puzzle pieces and those are going to be the people that will structure you and bring the best out of you. For all of my antisocial people, don't worry about it, being a loner is okay too because that is you. Remember to just make sure that what you are doing, you are enjoying.

Yes, there you have it. Being authentic doesn't take much. It is that simple! Take pride in who you are, love yourself and be proud of the moments you've lived. There is absolutely no reason why there should be two of the same people walking around on this planet. Never allow yourself to be driven to act a certain way just fo "fit in", forget about it! Go on with your bad self and light up the world with your rare character. Always think of yourself as the candle in a dark room, that's how much brightness you bring by just being YOU!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
