Being single at all times during the year can ocasionally suck, but during the holidays it can REALLY suck. Watching couples go on cute winter dates or post an Instagram picture cuddling watching Christmas movies can make you feel more crappy than it does during the midst of Summer. If you are single this holiday, embrace it. Being single really isn’t that bad, it’s just getting used to the fact. Here are a few ways to keep your mind off being single this holiday season.
Let your family drive you crazy
Spend tons of time with your family. Being away from them during school is hard anyways, so getting to spend some quality time together will be great. Even if you get sick of them fast, family will make you feel just as special as a boyfriend or girlfriend would. I’m sure your siblings or parents would love to make some hot chocolate and snuggle up on the couch to watch “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” with you. You also won’t have to choose between attending your family’s holiday events versus your significant others. You can literally just focus on you!
Hometown friends
Hit up your friends from your hometown. Whether you guys close the bars downtown or go out for a quiet dinner, some good company will make you forget all about Grandma asking you if you have a boyfriend/girlfriend yet.
Treat yourself
Think about how much money you are saving by not having to get your partner the new cologne he wants, or that diamond necklace she has been asking for! You don’t have to pay for that dumb ice skating and dinner date. Save your money or spend it for yourself. You deserve it.
