Manitou Springs is well-known as a quirky, unique tourist attraction in Colorado. Whether you're from Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Denver or even further, spending a day in Manitou Springs is always an adventure. Here are a few of the things you should be sure not to miss when you visit this little mountain town!

1. Penny Arcade

The Penny Arcade is an indoor-outdoor arcade and game center. There's Skeeball, old timey photo booths, air hockey and so many other games to play. While the prices have risen since the penny days, it's easy to have a good time with just a few dollars.

2. Mineral Water Fountains

Manitou is home to several natural mineral spring fountains, many of which can be found on the main street through the city. They have long been heralded for their healing powers and natural mineral makeup. You'll want to try them all!

3. Local Eats

Wandering around in the sunshine will make anyone hungry. Manitou has many local restaurants that might catch your eye, like Hell's Kitchen (try the mac and cheese pizza!) or the Mate Factor. Find some ice cream or fresh fudge for dessert at Pike's Peak Chocolate and Ice Cream.

4. Tarot Readings

Get some insight into your past, present and future with a tarot card reading. At least one local can usually be found in the area, waiting for you to learn more about your life.

5. Sunwater Spa

This new attraction has several levels with many soaking tubs, salt water pools, a cold plunge and yoga classes. Check it out at night for an amazing view of the stars, mountains, and city.

6. Recreational Marijuana

If you're 21, you can check out one of Manitou Springs' recreational marijuana shops. Manitou is host to two of the only dispensaries in the Pikes Peak area, since Colorado Springs denied recreational sales.

7. The Incline

Perhaps the most famous attraction in Manitou Springs, this trail gains over 2,000 feet in elevation over about a mile, making it a difficult climb for even the fittest folk. Don't forget about the false summit, or you'll never make it to the top!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
