If you’re looking for ways to stay hot during the summer (and not in the sweaty way), look no further. Any girl with long hair knows that one of the essential parts of summer is finding ways to keep your hair cute and off of your neck. Since I spend a lot of my time for my summer job working outside, I am constantly looking for new ways to do my hair for hot summer days. Sure, there is always the messy bun, but that gets old and sometimes you just want something a little more exciting, so here are some easy, fun and cute ways to keep your hair cool and you looking hot in the summer sun.
The Buns
Braided Bun:
This simple braided bun can be done as a low, messier bun or as a higher ballerina bun. If you choose to go with the lower bun, your hair is still off of your neck, but it allows some pieces to freely fall to give it that messy touch. The higher option takes a traditional ballerina bun and spices it up a bit by adding the braid to it.
Upside Down Braid Bun:
Spruce up a regular messy bun by starting a French or Dutch braid where your hair meets your neck and ending in a messy bun on top.
Ballerina Bun:
And of course, if you want something a little more put together than a messy bun but still quite simple, then go for the traditional ballerina bun, which can be worn high on top or move it down to a low bun.
The Ponies
Tousled Ponytail:
We see Blake Lively wear it best, but chances are, you can pull it off, too! This tousled pony is more fun than a plain-old ponytail without looking like you’re trying too hard. To get the complete look make sure the ends of your tail aren’t stick straight; they’re just as important to the tousled look as the crown of your head is.
Braided Ponytail:
There are many different ways to incorporate a braid into your pony. You can do French braids on either or both sides that lead into the pony or you can do raised braids that get pulled back with the rest of the hair. If you aren’t feeling a braid on top, try a regular braid or French braided tail. The options are truly endless with braided ponies; just find one that works for you and work it!
The Braids
While buns and ponytails can both incorporate braids in many different ways, you can also just go with any of the following braids. Make them straight or put them to the side. Keep them tight for a more clean-cut look or loosen them a bit and let a few pieces fall to get that cute messy look that you don’t have to worry about fixing.
French Braid:
Cute and classic. ‘Nuff said.
Fishtail Braid:
This can be done starting at the nape of your neck or it can be done as a French fishtail braid starting farther up on your head. The fishtail gives your hair some texture and looks more elaborate than it actually is, so it’s easy to do and fun for others to look at.
Basic Braid:
If you don’t want to mess with the French or fishtail, just keep it plain and simple with a regular braid.
Keep your locks cool and your looks hot!
