10 Cool Date Ideas For When Things Heat Up In Phoenix

Dating is hard enough, the heat does not need to make it worse. Here are 10 ideas of things to do to cool down during the summer here in Arizona.

Polar Play - Ice Bar

https://polarplay.com/#!/experince

While I have not been here, it is definitely on my summer bucket list when it gets to be 120 degrees here in Phoenix. Polar Play's Ice Bar lets you get out of the heat and play ice games, look at ice sculptures, and lounge in the below freezing temperatures. One ticket gives all-day access and a non-alcoholic beverage. While putting on layers and puffy jackets might not be considered sexy, it is a good way to get out of the summer heat.

Phoenix Art Museum

Phoenix Art Museum is a great way to beat the heat and get cultured at the same time. While tickets can be on the pricey end of the spectrum, every Wednesday is free from 3-9. Instead of spending all that money on tickets, take your date to a nice dinner before hand! The museum is cool and will take a few hours to walk through and talk about.

Press Coffee Tasting

Press Coffee Roasters offers coffee tastings at two locations, one in Chandler and one in Scottsdale. It is an hour-long session where you will learn about the origins and their flavors. While it costs $20 to register, each attendee will get a $10 Press gift card after the fact. If you and your date are coffee lovers, this is a great idea to do this summer!

Go to OdySea Aquarium

OdySea Aquarium is another way to stay indoors on a date and see some cute sea animals at the same time. This is a more expensive date option but fun none-the-less. This is a great way to talk while walking around, learning about the ocean, and seeing all these ocean animals.

Go to AZ on the Rocks

AZ on the rocks is a fun way to stay active in a cool, air-conditioned facility this summer. If your date is fairly active and enjoys heights, this is perfect for you. Without gear, it can be a little expensive, but it is worth it. This is a fun way to bond with your date and spend time exercising all at once.

Go to the movies

Movies are a cheap way to get out of the heat, eat some snacks and have some entertainment. There are plenty of different types of theatre's you can go to too: drive-in, regular theatre's, luxury theatre's, etc. Some theatres even will serve you food and drinks while you recline and watch a movie. Summer is the perfect time to go to the theatre!

Go on a tour at Four Peaks brewery

On Saturday's, the tours at Four Peaks are completely free. If you like beer, this is a cool way to see how it is made and get cool. The fact that is free is even cooler. Four Peaks is one of the most popular breweries in the valley so it would be awesome to see how it was made before you drink it.

Go ice skating.

Ice skating is an easy option for when it gets hot. There are plenty of ice skating rinks across the valley, might as well take advantage of them. It is a cheap option for a date that will keep you cool. While it can be a little embarrassing because you may fall, it is fun to joke about the falls the rest of the night.

Take a day trip up north.

While this can be a little pricier, taking a trip up north to Flagstaff or Prescott is a good way to cool off. Blasting the AC on the drive there and then the temperature drop un north, it is a fun road trip and date. While singing along to all your favorite songs and eating snacks, this is a good way to stay outside and be cool.

Go to Postino's wine cafe

Postino's wine cafe is a great date idea. Wine and bruschetta is a perfect place to go on a date to. The setting is cute, the food is good and the wine is better. Must-go during the summer.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
