Seriously, Start Cooking!

Cooking; The Greatest Hobby To Have

Cooking is literally one of my all-time favorite hobbies. Whether it's making a meal, a snack, or even baking a dessert, it's a creative and fun thing to do, especially when your bored.

When I was younger, I always dreamed of being a chef. My family is Italian, so cooking and baking was always a huge thing for my family. Everyone is really good at cooing and everything they made would always receive great compliments. Although my dream of becoming a chef wasn't a real career goal for me, I always enjoyed watching others cook and I even learned a few tricks from my mom or aunt.

When I was 13, my dad and I would always watch cooking shows together. Whether it was "Chopped," "Hell's Kitchen" or "Kitchen Nightmares," we always were so intrigued with the talents of the chef. I always loved Gordon Ramsey, and my dad and I would always try to make some of his recipes whenever we got the chance (his meatballs are amazing, by the way). In high school, I became president of the Culinary Cub, where I would make awesome themed treats from recipes I found online. Although baking wasn't my strong suit, I got the hang of it and my favorite part was always the decorations.

Now as a sophomore in college, I am living in an apartment-style dorm with my own kitchen, and cooking is slowly becoming my favorite thing to do. When I'm not to busy, I love looking at one of the "Tasty" videos on Facebook or turning on the "Food Network" and making whatever I can find. The best part of cooking is having people eat your food! It's great to make a nice meal with friends or family, and sit down and enjoy it. Get cooking; its relaxing, fun, and always delicious!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
