This may sound redundant, especially considering the fact that most college student’s version of cooking is doing something along the lines of microwaving Ramen. This article is designed to help steer you clear of that sodium-filled snack.

Cooking in college is actually much easier than one might think. Something that is “cooked” may have as few as three or four ingredients. For autumn cooking, a lot of dining halls have apples on hand to take to go. Their quality may be slightly compromised and be mushy or bruised. A simple way to enjoy less-than-satisfactory apples is to throw them in a saucepan with butter, sugar, and a little bit of cinnamon. In about ten minutes’ time, you will have a sweet dessert-like treat that’s actually very healthy. If your school has to-go containers for other things, you can repurpose other ingredients as well. Getting some veggies to throw into a pasta dish can make you seem like quite the chef. Pasta is very student friendly. A simple flavoring of olive oil, garlic, and some cheese is a no fuss dish sure to please. Throwing in some frozen chicken or shrimp can even elevate your dish.

Pinterest can be your best friend in finding easy dorm-friendly recipes. In the easy scroll down interface, whatever seems to pop out at you is a click away. Using the board feature also allows for you to share favorites with your friends and revisit the dishes you have made.

Mug recipes will be your best friend. Microwave brownies and nachos will soothe your midnight snack cravings. Be warned, though, unless you make one recipe frequently, the quantity of ingredients you end up buying may become absurd. Therefore, make to have friends on hand who want to help you eat stuff. The s’mores recipes that call for a bag of chocolate chips may be eaten unaccompanied if you let them out of your sight. Everyone should have a mug at college, for coffee, tea, or food.

With this tiny nugget of food knowledge, vow to try cooking something at school every once in a while. It’s a great way to bond with friends and have some fun!

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
