You love them to death.

Not every girl is fortunate enough to have their roommate be one of their best friends. I got extremely lucky to call my freshman year roommate Madison and my sophomore year roommate GB two of my best friends. Here are the conversations typical best friends/roommates have every day.

1) Can I wear this?

It's either something you've taken from your roommate's closet or something of your own that you're not sure looks okay so you ask. The best part is they will be completely honest in their answer. If you look like an idiot or it just doesn't go you can count on them to tell you.

2) Do you have any (insert specific shared favorite snack here)?

Then you pray that the answer is yes and hope they're willing to share. Most of the time yes they are willing to share, let's be real that's one of the best parts of having a best friend as a roommate, you willingly share just about everything.

3) Where are you? Can you come home?

When your roommate and best friend has been in class, at work, in the library, or in another mysterious place for what seems like forever and realistically could be only 20 minutes you start to miss her. Then you decide you need to send her texts and blow up her phone until you can locate her and she agrees to come home because let's face it you're bored.

4) Want to go get food?

The answer is always yes too. It could be the dining hall, a restaurant, or buying snacks at the store but she will never refuse to go eat with you. She might not be hungry but being the good roommate and friend she is she still decides to go with you.

5) We should clean. Shouldn't we?

This conversation always happens but guess what never or rarely happens. The answer is the cleaning! You acknowledge the mess and you see the mess but you never do anything about it.

6) Where are you going?

Every time one of you leaves the room alone the question is asked because really it is a rare occasion you leave the room without each other. It's always a sad moment but then you realize you'll both be back later that night to recap the little parts of the day you spent separate and everything is finally okay again.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
