Walker Stalker Con 2017- Boston

Convention Experience II
Walker Stalker

Last week I had the opportunity to attend my first ever Walker Stalker Con in the heart of Massachusetts: Boston. Anytime I have the chance to see some amazing events in Boston, I grab at it as soon as possible. So when Walker Stalker Con visited Boston again, I jumped for it. I first heard of Walker Stalker Con back in 2015 when their venue was at the Seaport World Trade Center. This year on 2017, they were next door to the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. This event was a two-day convention covering both Saturday and Sunday and features some of horror’s greatest actors such as Bruce Campbell from “Ash vs. Evil Dead” and loads of “The Walking Dead” cast. As a reminder, I don’t write reviews on conventions, I like to explain what happened for those who could not attend and wish to go or be convinced to attend next year.

One of the nice things that Walker Stalker Con had was because it was held in a hotel, it had restaurants and coffee shops in the venue, so you did not have to go super far to grab a quick meal or break. A downside that made it difficult to go to parts of the convention was how there two exposition halls for the vendors, booths, and celebrity booths. Due to that, bags had to be checked every time you moved from expo hall to the next expo hall. Also, only one side had the expo hall, panel room, and celebrity photo op. As a general long time convention goer, it would be more convenient for the attendees to only have to get checked once when getting into the convention.

One of the coolest things I can recall from Walker Stalker Con is getting to see all of the celebrities. Being able to see IronE Singleton (Theodore "T-Dog" Douglas), Michael Cudlitz (Sergeant Abraham Ford), Scott Wilson (Hershel Greene), and Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes). Having the chance to sit in on Singleton’s, Wilson’s, and Cudlitz’s panels were probably my favorite part of the two-day convention. It’s something about hearing the actors’ past, background, and what got them into acting felt special to hear. There was also Eugene Clark who played Big Daddy from horror legend, George Romero’s “Land of the Dead”. No need to mention, but seeing them was also special in that they are some of TV’s legendary actors. I also just remembered, this was the first time where I got to see a convention that hosted a real tattoo station/booth. Being totally honest with you all, I was very tempted to get one.

Overall, I feel fortunate to finally attend Walker Stalker Con- Boston this year. If you are a fan of the Walking Dead, a horror fanatic, or want to meet some of entertainment or horror’s biggest stars, this is the convention to go in Boston. Thanks a lot Walker Stalker Con and hope to see you again next year.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
