There is nothing worse than feeling like you're being hit with a semi-truck of stress. Feeling like you're so buried underneath the pile of everything you have to do and all your worries. Well, here is a list of 7 things you can do to help lower the anxieties of stress.
1. Exercise
Though many do not realize it exercising releases endorphins that make you feel good. A good way to active these endorphins is to get up and take a 10-15 minute walk to get your body moving. Not only does the mix of fresh air and movement help clear your head and calm your body. The rush of endorphins from getting out and moving energize you to help you have the motivation to get what you need to get done.
2. Breathe
Try taking 10 deep breaths. Breathe in for 10 seconds through your nose and breathe out for 10 seconds through your mouth. This helps clear your brain and lower your heart rate.
3. Try doing one thing at a time
The biggest thing we tend to do when we're stressed is do a million and one things at once. Stop. Take a second and look at what you have to do and do one task at a time. This will help ease your brain and stop it from being pulled in 100 different directions at once.
4. Throw away your stress in the garbage
Write down everything that is stressing you out right now. Tear the paper up into tiny piece and then throw it away or even take it outside and burn it. It is astonishing how something as tiny as this can help alleviate some of the stress you are feeling.
5. Make time for some fun
You should not always be a stressed human being. Yes it is part of our nature as humans to be stressed, but we should not be stressed 24/7. Take time to go have some fun whether it's shopping or bowling with friends, to just going out to lunch with someone. Even turn on some music and dance around your apartment or dorm room.
6. Start your day with quiet time
Spending just 5 minutes in the morning in silence setting a plan for the day, helps set the establish the tone for the day.
7. Organize yourself
Being organized helps alleviate stress more than one thinks. Even just having a daily planner that lists the things you have to do for the day or the week can help ease your mind knowing that you have something to look back on if you're feeling that you forgot to do something or need to get back on task.
