I usually use my articles to express my love for God, my family, and my friends but this week I decided to write about my love for my pets. Living and growing up on a farm is not only the greatest gift I have ever been given, but it has also been the craziest experience with animals.
I never consider my farm animals "pets" but I do consider my dog and two indoor cats as pets. I recently watched the movie Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey for the first time in probably 5 years and I've realized that as you get older you realize that the same movies you watched as a kid have a different effect on you now as an adult.
I think it's important that we watch these movies so we understand and appreciate everything we have. Not only did I cry during the movie but it got me thinking..do dogs and cats really know how we feel and whether or not we are sad? I think the answer is yes.
You see it seems like every time I have a bad day, coming home to my dog Bella makes me feel so much better. She greets me the moment I get out of the car and follows me until I step inside the house. She's pretty much like the girl version of Shadow in the movie.
Then I have my one indoor cat Henry. Henry is quite the catch. He is in to everything and is so entertaining. Henry wasn't originally supposed to be an indoor pet until my sister and I convinced my mom to make him into one. Henry is very loving and is much like the Chance of the movie.
My other indoor cat Miley is feisty. She thinks that she is the queen of the house and that we are all her peasants. She can be loving at times but she is mostly in love with herself. She is like Sassy in the film.
But my point in all of this isn't to convince you why my animals are great and why I love them. It's to explain to you that even if they aren't people, they know us, love us, and understand us and just like the pets in the movie they want to be around us. So cherish them, love them, but most of all never forget them because while we are growing up we must remember they are too.
