Nothing scares me more than the possibility that one day all of our exotic animals that inhabit the world will all be extinct. Being the animal lover that I am, I stay very up-to-date in the poaching issues we have all across the world, especially in Asia, Africa, and some of Europe and South America. If you are unaware of the definition of poaching, it is: the illegal hunting, killing, or capturing of wild animals, usually associated with land use rights.
Poaching has become one of the greatest threats to many animals, especially to tigers, elephants, rhinos, gorillas, and much much more. In many cases, poaching has been driving several animals and their species to endangerment and sadly even extinction. I don't think enough people are educated and aware of this issue that is taking place across numerous continents. I believe that it still remains a major problem because it is not a priority to the public or even to the political community. I understand that more important things are taking place in the world right now, for example, ISIS and all those tragedies, but not addressing this issue will only do more harm to our environment and make our world not as unique.
The people who are educated on poaching know that the reason these animals are hunted is because of their uniqueness and beauty. Over the years there have been laws and regulations made in attempt to help stop these brutal acts. These laws were made because parts of the animals were being process, transported, and sold for humans enjoyment and treasure. I say, "Go hunt a fish or deer, animals that are over populated, and go see the beauty of the animals that are actually significant to this world at a zoo or through wildlife conservation domains in Africa." Hunting is purely for enjoyment and that is what makes it so sad. People enjoy killing these magnificent animals, for what? Nothing, nothing that will bring anything more than "satisfaction."
To become more aware and educated about this devastating act you can go to many sites, one of the main ones being The World Wildlife Foundation. This foundation has been making ongoing efforts in order to help this cause. They take donations and volunteers daily in order to make this dream a reality to stop poaching permanently. With their efforts, they have increased the mountain gorilla population by 26 percent over the past seven years, doubled the rhino population, and estimated that by 2022 the tigers will have doubled their numbers as well.
