You're Probably Not as Liberal/Conservative as You Think

Lately on the internet I've been seeing people saying things like, "Damn liberals!"

But what are liberals or conservatives anyway?

Do you mean people who are socially liberal or economically liberal? Probably both, but did you know that there is actually a big difference between the two?

Because not all socially liberal people consider themselves as economically liberal, someone like me.

Being aware of the different types of political typologies is crucial, especially in a time of political Facebook statuses and posts being thrown at you left and right. It is important to recognize that there are different people out there, and not all "liberals" are what they are stereotyped to be, and not all "conservatives" are exactly what they are deemed to be either.

I have noticed that living in a world of millennials, most of us are liberal in some aspect whether people realize it or not. Most of my friends who consider themselves "conservative" very much believe in LGBTQ rights, which actually makes them moderately liberal. So "liberals," not all "conservatives" are assholes, it's just that LGBTQ issues aren't first on their list of important issues unlike yours; and "conservatives," not all "liberals" are ..."snowflakes", they just see equality and justice for human beings more important than current economic issues. Just keep in mind that an extreme belief of either side is considered close-minded to President Eisenhower...

"Extremes to the right and to the left of any political dispute are always wrong."

-Dwight D. Eisenhower

This square makes everything I am saying about socially and economically liberal or conservative easier to understand. There are 4 aspects to this square,

Liberal- Someone who believes in LGBTQ rights (in short)

and the opposite;

Conservative- Someone who generally is a Pro-Life advocate (in short)

and on the other side you have...

Big Government- Someone who believes in governmental regulations in several aspects of life

and the opposite;

Small Government- Someone who believes in a "laissez faire" (hands-off) type of government

Basically what people need to understand that not all liberals believe in big government, and not all conservatives believe in small government, like their stereotypes would lead one to believe.

Below are reliable, informative quizzes to find out where you actually stand in regard to political typology, I recommend taking both quizzes and I promise you'll be surprised by the results. Please take the time to explore yourself and see where you stand in comparison to others in regards to different ages, races, religions, gender, etc. As the common fear of bias has arisen, I promise that these quizzes are bias-free and very educational. They also give you some sense of what the political spectrum actually is.

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

College is a great place to meet people, especially through Greek life. If you look closely at sororities, you'll quickly see there are many different types of girls you will meet.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
