We've all survived the toughest parts of our lives.
We all have paused during difficult times and wished things would go back to the way they once were.
Once, things were good, great even. You did not stop to think things could go wrong or could get worse.
Then life happened, while you were busy making other plans. It unexpectedly became difficult: you lost a friend or two. Maybe a lot of them. School years progressed and time went on. You graduated. You stood tall and proudly wore that cap and gown. Signifying all that you had worked so hard for.
A family member died.
You were bullied.
You were depressed. You moved.
Something shifted in your life, and suddenly everything was different.
You were thrown into a black hole of uncertainty; you didn't know who was there for you anymore. You didn't know who you could trust. You didn't know how to handle your emotions. You felt lost. All you wanted to do was to go back to those moments you once had that made your heart feel full.
Day after day, you spun your wheels. You didn't feel like you were getting any better, that you weren't going anywhere in life. Maybe if you just fell asleep and didn't wake up, maybe that was an easier way to go and that no one would miss you.
But then, the moment came. Something happened in your life that caused you to lift your head up, to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
You switched schools. Moved. Made new friends and got into a relationship. Something happened in your life which made you happy to be alive and that was a great moment for you. You began to laugh more. Go out more. Call your parents and siblings, check in on everyone in their lives, making sure they're doing well too. Everything got better.
Guess what? You made it. After long nights of staying up until 4 AM listening to sad music, crying endlessly, writing page after page into your diary or journal, sifting through your thoughts, you made it.
Currently, here you are, doing whatever you're doing, in a much better place than before, content, safe, and happy; not wishing things could go back to the old days because they're so much better now.
