To another successful finals Week
We did it, we finished 2016. For most people, we’re glad that it’s over. 2016 didn’t exactly bring a lot of happiness or tie some loose ends, especially with this year’s roller coaster presidential election. But it’s over—the nights of studying until 2 AM, the coffee filled every hour, it’s all over. No matter what happens next, the only thing that we can trust is that we did our best. Sometimes that’s the hardest thing to accept, however: is that nothing can be changed, every channel has been exhausted and every method has been used. I have friends who have used special rocks for anxiety, that tried meditation and everything underneath the sun to get ahead, including chewing different flavored gum when studying and during the test, because that apparently improves test taking score. So, to another successful finals week—goodbye, we are all done with you. Whatever happens will happen, and we will move forward with it.
The one thing I learned from finals week, was surprisingly not any material, was that despite all the measures people use to try and relax and take a successful exam, the positivity is never real. So the question is, how can we trick ourselves into being positive next semester? If we don’t intrinsically believe it, how can we convince our body that we can? Because positivity has been proven to be the best non-studying method, and it’s absolutely free. But that’s for two weeks before finals next year, we have plenty of time to understand life’s hardest questions. For now, congratulations, we did it.
