You made it!
You made it through four long years that felt more like 4 quick months. You made it through the good and the bad, the happy and the sad, the stress and the euphoria. You made it through all the tough classes. The long sleepless nights finishing that 15-page paper on race-relations in eighteenth century Europe. You made it through all the fun classes. The ones you never wanted to end. You made it through the absolute worst teachers. The ones that would take points off your assignment because you used MLA instead of APA. You made it through the absolute best teachers. The ones that you will talk about for the rest of your life. The ones that made an impact on you and your entire career.
You made it through your friendships. Some came and went, but the ones that matter stuck it around with you. You made it through discovering your emotions. You made it through the occasional fights that only highlight how much you care for each other. You made it through the crazy parties and the stupid decisions. You may still regret some of them, but they made you who you are. They are a part of you. You made it through navigating campus life, trying to find the right clubs for you. You found new interests and kindled old ones. You found experiences that will stick with you forever. You made it through taking on leadership roles. You made it through planning events on campus and dealing with the paperwork and administration that comes with it.
You made it!
If you made it through four years of stress, emotional turmoil, the occasional bout of dread, and the tireless days, then you can make it through anything. You will make it through the good and the bad. You now know how hard life can get. But you are ready for all of life's challenges.
And if nothing else, you have memories that you will always remember. You may come out regretting not doing some things that you wanted to do. but, don't worry. You did a lot and you will do some much more in your life.
Congrats to the class of 2017! You will be missed. But you are ready for the next chapter in your life.
On behalf of the rest of the undergraduate body of every college and university in the world, we wish you the best of luck!
