The constant comparison between us everyday girls and the models of Victoria's Secret warrants the usual confidence disaster. It is so common nowadays for a girl to look in the mirror and see everything she hates. Not only that, but social media will often rip you to shreds if you don't fit into the standard of "beauty" that we think of today. In fact, 7 in 10 young girls believe they are not good enough or do not measure up in reference to their looks. Even more so, this insecurity leads to 75 percent of girls with low self-esteem engaging in negative activities such as eating disorders, cutting, smoking and drinking when feeling bad about themselves.
The real question is, where do we draw the line? We know about this, and we know it is happening all around us, but yet we do nothing about it. Well let me tell you something, beauty isn't up for anyone else to judge. You are beautiful, simply because you are you. If you simply trust in God, you will realize that the ultimate decider has made you as beautiful as anyone else. "You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you." Song of Songs 4:7. Let's go a step deeper even... there is only one you in this world. There are 7,477,147,000 people in the whole world, and yet, there is only one you. If this doesn't blow your mind, I'm not sure what will. I mean, that's amazing.
I can sit here and tell you all about how beautiful any given person reading this is, but it doesn't matter if you don't believe it. Do me a favor and look in a mirror, and try and tell me that you aren't worth it. I guarantee that there is someone in this world who loves, or will love, every little quirk that configures your being. Before they can do that, however, you have to love yourself first.
