Everyone has been at a movie theater at least once in their life, whether it is a Regal or an AMC. There are some things that you do not know about working at the theater, but I am here to tell you what it is really like to work at the place where you love to watch your movies.

1. We love our job, but sometimes, it can get tough.

Yes, I know it is hard to believe that we actually enjoy our jobs, but sometimes, it gets too tough. On slow nights, it is easy to relax and just enjoy the time, maybe even play on our phones. On busy nights, it is stressful. It seems like the night will never end, and we might get a little cranky. Sorry, not sorry!

2. If you are younger than 21, we will not let you buy two for a rated R movie.

Patrons 17 to 20 years of age may only purchase more than one ticket if they are able to provide photo I.D. for proof of age for each additional ticket being purchased. A person must be at least 21 years old in order to purchase multiple tickets without providing additional photo I.D. for additional tickets.

3. Tapping on the glass at the box office actually just makes us even more annoyed.

If we are doing something like putting away closed captioning classes, please do not tap on the window. We will just slow down even more. Thanks!

4. NEVER trust the newspaper movie times!

Movie theater times are totally WRONG in the newspaper. Times change daily. The best sites to check are either Regal.com or Fandago.com.

5. We do not know what the movie is actually about?

It is not our job to know what each movie is about, and we do not have the time to know either. We suggest that before you come in, you go online, search the movie, and check it out before coming in. That makes everything a lot easier and quicker for us and you.

6. IMAX or RPX theaters require you to pick seats.

I am not sure when this started, but it has been around for a while. Those seats are required be chosen. It takes some time, but please be patient.

7. We are human.

We have feelings as well. When you are rude to us, it will hurt our feelings. We are doing our best to help every single one of you. We go as fast as we can to get to the number of people who are in line.

8. We have a phone that rings off the hook, so please respect us if we are on the phone.

Yes, I know it is annoying, but we cannot let the phone ring too many times. If the worker is on the phone, please respect that he/she will get to you as soon as he/she can.

9. We get annoyed every time you say "This is a regal" and sound really surprised.

It is not really surprising. We have signs all over the place. The box office has a huge sign. Concessions has the board above. The front doors have the symbol. the workers' shirts have the name on it as well. It gets really annoying to hear that.

10. Movies that are older have fewer times.

Sometimes, when movies are on their way out of theaters, the times change. Every movie starts off showing about five to six times a day. Then, as newer movies come in, the older ones only show two to three times a day, before it drops to one time a day.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
