Confessions Of A (Very) Busy College Girl

Let me just start by saying that yes, I do know that being busy is 100% my choice. But, I honestly love being busy and having a jam packed schedule.

Here's a little look into what my life looks right now for the first semester:

I am in the Honors College, taking five classes (three of those classes are considered "honors" classes) on campus and three classes online, I work anywhere from four to five graveyard shifts every week at Dutch Bros Coffee, I am a writer and the Editor In Chief for the Odyssey Online at Boise State, this weekend I am going through sorority recruitment, and on top of that, I try to make as much time as I can for my friends and my family.

Now, some may say (and some have) that I am absolutely crazy to have a schedule like I do at nineteen years old, let alone love it, and maybe I am. But, having a schedule as busy and jam packed as I do makes me feel accomplished. But, I will admit, I think this semester of college is the busiest I have ever been. But here's the thing...like I said before, it makes me feel accomplished and proud. And being able to say "I did it" at the end of the semester will make everything worth it!

Now, most of the people in my life (friends and family) are beyond supportive of me, my jam packed schedule, and busy life....but for those who aren't or still don't get why I do this, here are some things I want you to know:

-When you question why I have such a busy schedule or why I even do this to myself it makes me feel bad....

-....Because everything that contributes to my busy schedule and my busy life is really (really) important to me.

Trust me when I say there is no way I would do what I do if every single thing that made up my busy schedule and life didn't mean A LOT to me.

-My friends and family are still my number one priority....

-....If you ever need me (or any of my friends or family need me) I am still always going to be here for you, no matter what.

My friends and family mean the world to me and I will drop anything for them if they need me, I don't care what it is, what time it is, etc. if my friends or family need me I'm there no matter what.

So thank you to my friends and family for constantly supporting and being there for me....even with my crazy schedule.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
