I admit it. I'm addicted to MAC, Sephora and Ulta more than the next person and I'm comfortable with that. Shelling out a a little extra money on a good reliable makeup isn't a crime every once in a while. It's not like I go spending thousands in a one-off shopping spree, but gradually building up my collection in bits and pieces is half the fun of being a makeup connoisseur. So here's a few of my realizations on the road to becoming the addict I am today.
1. The Experience
Half of the point of buying all that makeup you possess is the fact it is practically a religious experience just walking into the store. Don't even get me started on the pleasure of applying it.
2. The Display
You take personal pride in organizing and showcasing all your majestic makeup. Color coordinating all your shades of lipsticks is satisfying feat in and of itself.
3. The Application
Praise be to the almighty makeup god that introduced women to a red lip. Imagine the smooth slide of creamy Scarlett or a soft brush spreading powder on your cheeks. Taking a little me time out of your day is a necessary ritual every person should adopt, and for me personally, my makeup application is for me and not to impress anyone else.
4. The Artistry

5. The Practicing
I enjoy my makeup-less days to let my skin recover and rub my face to my heart's content as much as the next person. Yet even when I know I'm not doing anything I'll take the time to try a new makeup look for the sake of getting it right and attempting something new.
In the end makeup is something for the enjoyment of the wearer. The idea that it's deceiving when someone wears makeup is a difference of opinion. If they are so easily deceived into believing I was born with glittery pink eyelids, then they've been deceived about a lot worse things than that.
