I am about to start my second year at the University of Connecticut, better known as UConn. Of course I love my school, why would I come back if I didn’t? But there are times when I truly miss home. I like to call myself a homebody. I go out with my friends, but I also like to come back and relax at my house after a long day. These are my confessions of some of the things that I miss when I'm at school and I'm sure you can relate if you're a homebody too:

1. I miss my bed.

There is nothing like the feeling of jumping into your bed after a long day. No hard feelings to my bed at school, but I'm currently in a very committed relationship with my bed at home.

2. I miss my mom's cooking.

The dining hall food is just not cutting it anymore. How many times a week can you eat pizza? Just saying, no one makes Cuban food better than my Mom.

3. I miss seeing my best friends.

Even though I love the friends I've made in college, my friends back home have been with me since elementary school. They're basically sisters to me now.

4. I miss my family.

I'll admit it. I miss my family from time to time when I'm at school. It's nice to live on your own for a change, but it can be lonely without your family there with you.

5. I miss being able to drive my car.

I miss my 2000 Toyota Camry named Guadalupe. We have a bond like no other.

6. I miss alone time.

One word: Privacy. Every once and a while I need my quiet alone time in order to keep myself sane.

7. I miss showering without shower shoes.

Communal bathrooms are the bane of my existence. Moment of silence for all the times I accidentally slipped a little and my foot touched the shower floor.

8. I miss not having to look presentable to eat.

At home, I can stroll out of bed and go down in my kitchen in just my shirt. At school, I have to actually get ready in order to go to the dining hall. This is why Kraft Instant Mac n' Cheese Cups come in handy when I'm too lazy to put pants on.

Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz says, "There's no place like home." That statement has such meaning for me because really, there is no place like home. There is a sense of comfort, a sense of safety, a sense of belonging that you can find no place else but at home. There is also a need to find my wings and take flight and trek my own path in life. What is truly wonderful is that no matter where I go in my life, or wherever I travel, I know a place where I can always find solace. Home, sweet home.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
