There's nothing I love more that being totally inmersed in a story. Being so caught up in a character's life that when the book is over you actually feel as if a part of you is missing. That my friends, is when you know that you are a book nerd.
In elementary school I used to get in trouble for reading under my desk while my teacher was talking. They would take my book away and give it to me after class. Yeah, a teacher got mad at me for reading, that's how addicted I was. This book addiction followed me all the way through middle school and high school. I was always reading at way higher level than everyone else because I couldn't stop.
When I got my first job I got my first paycheck and you can bet that I spent some of it on a book. I spend too much money on books. I wont buy a $10 dress but you can guarantee that I will buy a $15 limited edition hardcover book.
When I go to Super Target with my Mom we go our separate ways. She goes grocery shopping and I go to the book section. I could spend my whole day book shopping. I start in the first isle and make my way down each one. I pick up books that I think are a possibility. By the end of the four isle I have a large stack of books in my hand. By this time my Mom is done shopping and knows where to find me. Then she must sit there for an additional 20 minutes until I finally pick a book. Sometimes she gets so impatient that she buys me two so I don't have to pick just one.
I love a good book store. Unfortunately there aren't many around anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love Barnes and Noble but there is nothing better than a small hole in the wall book store. You walk in and the smell of books hit you. It's the best smell in the world. Old books, new books, hard back, and paper, your options are absolutely endless. What a magical feeling.
The worst part about being a bookaholic is the ending of a book. You become a part of the story and you fall in love with the characters so much that when it's over your heart breaks. The worst is when you are reading a series, that's when you really become attached. I remember I read a trilogy that I really became attached to and for a few days after I finished I was noticeably sad. Seriously, my parents asked me what was wrong.
Although being a bookalholic book nerd has its down falls, there is nothing better than being a book nerd and cracking open a fresh new book...
