The one who is always there to comfort me, always excited to see me, and always in the best mood. The one who is always up for an adventure, early in the morning or late at night. The one who never judges me and loves me regardless. The one who has never left my side (unless fetching a tennis ball), my dog.
Being away at school 9 months out of the year intensifies my dog withdrawals, so here are 11 thoughts any serious dog lover like myself would find relatable.
1. When you think of missing “home” you picture your dog.
“Home sweethomedog!”
2. When you facetime your family you ask them to put your dog on camera.
“I know I miss you too! But where’s Brandy?”
3. You try to have people understand your dog addiction, but everyone just thinks you’re a freak.
“Seriously just look at this picture of my dog, you can’t tell me that’s not adorable.”
4. You avoid scaring people with your dog voice, but it comes out anyways.
“Ohsheewittle puppy!”
5. Whenever you’re separated, you reminisce on all the selfies you’ve taken with your dog and maybe even look through them on your phone.
“Omg I can’t.”
6. You look forward to the next time you can bond with your dog and maybe even plan out a play date.
“Sorry I can’t hang today, I’m going to the park with my dog.”
7. You pretend to your houseguests that your pet’s habits are “bad”, but in reality you think it’s the cutest thing ever.
“Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry she keeps trying to eat your food…”
8. You get seriously offended if someone isn’t fond of your dog.
“Last time they ever come over.”
9. When Christmas rolls around, a good present for your dog is one of your main gift-shopping priorities.
“I need to go to PetSmart.”
10. Everyone knows when you’re home from school because your entire snap story consists of videos, selfies, or adorable candids of your dog.
“Just here hanging with my dog.”
11. And no matter how old your dog gets, they’ll always be your “little beebee."
“No. That’s NOT grey hair.”
