Summer is probably the best time to see some great concerts. There are the obvious music festivals, of course, but there's also some diamonds in the rough hidden in local bars and theaters. Here are some great things to see this summer.

1. Lollapalooza- Chicago, IL July 28th-July 31st

This music festival is celebrating 25 years of great music and this year is no exception. Of course, it is well publicized with big names like Ellie Goulding, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, and Radiohead. However, it's the smaller bands that can make or break a really good music festival. While you're waiting for the big names to come out, check out the smaller bands like Mutemath, PVRIS, Pottymouth, and Local Natives among other artists. If you're really set on keeping a tight schedule, the Lollapalooza website has a great interactive site that helps to plan a schedule here.

2. The Strive- Merriam, KS July 10th

This band played for a block party during the school year and they are definitely worth going to see. They do great covers of popular pop and alternative songs, and their original rock-pop songs have a lot of energy and passion in them. They're a great young band and the tidbits that Brendan Stevens, the lead singer, shares in between make every second of their show amazing and powerful.

3. KITTEN- Kansas City, MO July 16th

I'll admit I'm selfishly putting this in, but if you want a show, then this is the band to see. A nice blend of 80's synthpop and indie rock, their front woman, Chloe Chaidez has an excellent stage presence. Even if you have never heard any of their songs, you'll love every second of it.

4. The Aquadolls- Omaha, NE July 31st or Fort Wayne, IN Aug 3rd

If you want to get to a beach, but are stuck in the Midwest for the summer, this is a show for you. Originally from California, The Aquadolls has that beach pop sound that will make you wish you were floating in the water. Melissa Brooks' band gives a funky, chill sound with beaches, aliens and a little bit of sass.

A great concert can be a wonderful way to make a memorable summer. Hopefully, you will have a chance to see some great artists perform live, even if they're not on this list. Grab a friend and go!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
