Here's 15 easy steps to a successful concert experience. You do not want to ruin your night because of one simple mistake!
THE MONTHS BEFORE:
1. I hope you have your laptop ready because the first thing you need to do is find out who you're seeing and when you are seeing them.
2. It's always best to make sure you find out when the pre-sale tickets are so you can save a little money and you won't have to worry about them being sold out.
3. You should also find out who is opening for your artist so you can see if they are of interest to you or if you'd rather show up right before the main act.
THE HOURS BEFORE:
4. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT leave your house without your tickets whether they're on your phone or you print them out.
5. If it is an outdoor concert make sure you check the weather for that day and look up the layout of the place so you can dress accordingly. You do not want ruin your new Chucks on a day everyone else is wearing rain boots.
6. Depending on where the concert is, you need to know the parking details. People get ripped off all the time because someone leads them in to their lot paying $20 when the safer lots were only $15.
7. General admission concerts can get a bit crazy, so make sure you're showing up at least an hour early before it starts to get everything you want (drinks, food, merchandise) and still find a good spot for the show.
8. You should definitely celebrate T-shirt time before the concert starts. If you go after, they might be out of your size and the line will be longer than your mom (open for interpretation).
PIT ETIQUETTE:
8. Do you ever ask yourself, "Is it OK to talk during an entire concert?" If you answered yes, please never attend another in your life, thank you. (Unless you have lawn tickets because who cares, you probably paid $15 to see them anyway.)
9. Honestly, pushing and shoving is inevitable. Just do not be the reason.
10. If you're at least six feet tall, please let the five-foot-nothing girl standing directly behind you step in front. We cannot help it that even in heels we're nothing more than an arm rest.
11. I get it, some people at concerts like to drink a little to have a better time, but unless you want a slap to the face and people pushing you over to a nearest security guard, I suggest you do not drink your weight. No one wants that experience ruined by a belligerent drunk.
THE HOURS AFTER:
12. When the band leaves the stage, do not leave your spot. If anything, take the closer spots of the people leaving in front of you. Encores are almost always a go, and if they did not sing your favorite song, you might be delightfully surprised.
13. If you stay even longer after the encore, you could find out that the group will have a meet and greet that night. Twitter is your friend on some concert nights; the band might let you know where they are going out later so you can go get an autograph/picture.
14. I don't know about you guys but I'm always hungry after a concert, and pizza is a great late night snack. Fellini's is the move, Atlanta.
THE MONTHS AFTER:
15. If you have not seen at least three other concerts since then, DO YOU EVEN MUSIC?
