The day I met my favorite singer.

A Concert Memory: Taylor Swift

August 10, 2013 was the day I met my favorite singer Taylor Swift. I was fifteen at the time, and I was a huge Taylor fan. I remember when I first heard that she was coming to the Chicago land area; I was so excited. I begged my parents to buy tickets, and they tried their hardest to try and buy them for me. Unfortunately, tickets were too expensive, and they sold out. I was sad because I wasn’t going to go see her, but I understood.

It was early August when I heard that my local country music radio station was giving away free pit passes and meet and greet passes for the Taylor Swift concert. When I heard that, my heart leaped with excitement. “This is my chance!”, I said to myself. I was so excited, but there was still some doubt that I wasn’t going to win. But, I tried. My mom, dad, aunt, brother, and I all called the radio to answer the question that they asked. When my mom and I called, the line said it was busy. And just like that, the contest winner was announced, and it was over. I was somewhat disappointed, but I accepted the fact that it was just not meant to be,

I called my dad, to see if he somehow got through, but he didn’t. I went to ask my brother, but he didn’t either. I went to call my aunt, but she wasn’t answering. Could she have possibly been the winner? I tried to stay calm, but it was so hard. I didn’t want to get my hopes up to high, but when she called me with the news, my excitement increased very quickly. I was going to see and meet Taylor Swift.

Finally, the day of the concert arrived, and I could not contain myself. I was going to meet Taylor Swift! Walking into Soldier Field in Chicago was amazing. Everywhere you looked, there were people of every levels of society. They were all there for the same reason I was, to enjoy the music. I have said this a million times, but that was the moments that I realized that music has a tremendous impact on people and the world.

Waiting in the meet and greet line felt like centuries. But, finally one of Taylor’s crew came and brought us backstage. If anyone reading is a Taylor fan, you may have heard of the hangout room “Club Red.” The room was filled with the memorabilia from past shows and tours, and pictures. I couldn’t believe I was there, and I couldn’t believe that I was next. They opened the curtain for me to walk, and there she was, Taylor Swift. She was so kind and inviting. She asked me for my name, and she also said that I was pretty – which made me feel good about myself. I told her that I was a big fan of her music, and she said that she was so happy that I liked it. After that, she wished me goodbye, and we left.

Before this concert, I had been to many others, but this one beats all of them. There was dancing, fireworks, and stunning sets while she was performing. She sang her hits like: “We are never ever getting back together”, “Love Story”, and “Sparks Fly”. This night was a dream come true, and I am so glad of the memories I made that day.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
