Ever since I was young, I have always loved music. I love hearing it, and I love singing it. Music is my life. When I am upset, I tend to reach out to music. It has always been, to me, a stress reliever.
I have been to many concerts in my lifetime, but one of the concert I greatly enjoyed was the Hillsong United: Empires tour this past summer. My parents got tickets for me as a graduation present and I was so excited. I had never seen them live, so I knew that I was in for a real treat. I remember I was filled with excitement when we arrived at the United Center. There were some difficulties when we were looking for our seats, they didn’t exist, but when the lights came down, all the frustration went away.
The opening act was the amazing artist, Lauren Daigle. You have probably heard her music before, and if you haven’t, I totally recommend it. She sang my favorites like “How Can It Be”, and “Trust in you”. When she left the stage, I was sad that her segment was over, but I knew that meant that next up was Hillsong United.
All the lights went down, and all the members of Hillsong came up and started singing beautiful worship music. It was an amazing sight to see all of the United Center uniting in one voice, to sing praises to our Lord and Savior. There was even a point in the show that a guy in front of me started sobbing. He was feeling something move inside him.
Hillsong United creates music of deep value and significance. I remember when they started singing “Oceans”, and it was so beautiful to see everyone’s arms lifted to the heavens. Arms opened wide is a symbol of surrendering all to the one who gave everything for us. I just loved seeing thousands of people worship the same God that gave his life for us.
I have so many reasons for why I love music and concerts. I believe that music can connect people and unite them. When I find out that someone likes the same song I like, or likes the same group I like, it’s like we instantly have a special bond. That is why music is so near and dear to my heart.
