Picture your grandparents our age saying, "YOUR INSTAGRAM ROCKS"

"Oh my gosh, I love your Instagram."

"Your Facebook post was so funny."

"You are such a good Photographer, I saw your posts on Instagram."

"You are so good at editing videos!"

As a Millennial, I am seeing an increase in compliments that are more on how we look on social media, not necessarily for who we are as a person. Now, don't get me wrong. I love instagram, I love social media, but lately I have been seeing a huge difference in the compliments we receive, verses what our grandparents or ancestors received.

Now a days, somebody saying "I loved your picture you posted" can actually make your day. I can't help but look back a few generations. Complements were not relient on social media postings, or photography. They were cleary more focused on character. Now, do not get me wrong. Photography is a gift, and some people work really hard to make their social media account reflect who they are. The conflict I am facing is that when our grandparents were complimented, they were never focused on media, or how something looked. They were more associated with character.

"He is such a hard worker."

"She is so kind."

"He would help anyone."

"She is so genuine."

See the difference?

Don't stop complimenting people on the new talents and opportunities that we have in this world. It is a part of the times we are in, and it is good to accept that. But don't let it take away from you being able to see that persons character. Yes, their Tumblr might be #goals, but what is special about them? My goal and dream is that I will be able to compliment, and see people more on their character than their works.

When we pull out the gold in people for who they are and not for what they did, I believe it is more lasting and special. So keep on complimenting on whatever you feel needs to be praised, but make sure to look at the person! We are all created and blessed with certain traits that are there when all the technology disappears.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
