9 Reasons In-N-Out Is The Best Company To Work For In College

In-N-Out Burger has had the reputation of being a good company to work for. But I am going to give you reasons why it's the best job to have while in college.

I got hired a year and a half ago and it was the best decision I have made while being in school. It was my first job and I can't imagine doing anything else. You have to be a special kind of person to work at In-N-Out. You have to constantly be willing to give it your all 100% of the time because it's always busy, and when it's not, you find something to keep yourself busy.

1. They work around your schedule very well.

In-N-Out is super flexible with students. If you give them your class schedule, they work around it. If you want to only work three or four days a week in order to have time to do homework, that's OK too.

2. It's pretty easy to get days off.

Depending on how busy your store is and how many associates you have, you're almost guaranteed the time off that you request. If you want to go home for the weekend, you can.

3. It pays extremely well.

You start above minimum wage, and each time you move up to a different position, you get a raise.

4. It teaches you time management, responsibility, and customer service.

Since it is always busy, you learn to manage your time well on whatever position you are on. It also teaches you time management in your life outside of work too. You gain a lot of responsibility working there which you can use every day. And we pride ourselves on our customer service skills which you can take on to any other career in your life.

5. Two words: free food.

As a poor college student, anytime you hear the word free, its like a gift from above. Each shift, you get a burger for free and what could be better than free In-N-Out.

6. You get cool incentives.

In-N-Out sets goals for each store, you reach those goals, you get parties. Also, if your store is accident free for a certain number of days, you get safety awards as well. Our parties have been trips to see the Giants vs the Dodgers, a dinner cruise in SF, and we got to see the Sharks play the Kings. There is also a family picnic in the summer where you can bring a friend and enjoy a carnival like environment all just for working for the best company ever.

7. You can transfer stores.

This is perfect for college kids that move away from home. You are allowed to transfer stores when you go home for breaks. I work up in SF while in school, then I work down in Orange County when I am home for summer and winter breaks.

8. You get benefits.

In-N-Out provides part-time associates with benefits. You also get sick hours and paid vacation hours as well.

9. You meet a lot of great people.

Since you spend so much of your time at work, pretty much all of your friends are from In-N-Out. I have met most of my friends at In-N-Out and they are the most amazing people ever! We consider each other family!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
