Their motto, “One for One,” provides that for every pair of shoes you buy, TOMS will donate one pair. With TOMS’ help, over two million children have been protected from hookworm with medication and there has been a 42% increase in maternal health care program participation due to the shoe distribution. By protecting yourself with a little shade, you are protecting someone else. For every pair of sunglasses sold through “Diff Eyewear,” one pair of reading glasses is donated. A Syracuse University student was looking for an affordable and fashionable scarf to sport around campus. Unsuccessful in finding one, she decided to create her own, and now has a company dedicated to making that scarf we are all looking for. “Backpacks that carry a country.” This company creates super cute backpacks, but not without the help of some trusty employees. The totes are created with traditional fabrics and are made by adults with disabilities. 20% of the profits made are given to farmers and small business owners from the country your tote is crafted from. This super cute jewelry company created “Charity By Design,” which empowers non-profits by sharing resources and talent to help grow their missions. This movement strengthens charitable organizations through partnerships and collaboration and influences growth through employees, customers, and community members who want to get involved. 8. Whole Foods
This is a company that just rocks. It rocks your bank account, to say the least, but if you notice all the cool things it does then you may not feel as bad about breaking the bank. Whole Foods spreads a message surrounding healthy living through microfinance programs that help farmers and bond communities. It has created various movements, such as the Whole Planet Foundation, which hopes to alleviate poverty in 69 countries. Sometimes doing good things means spending some moolah.
