I lived on campus for three years and this makes my second year of commuting. I have found a few pros and cons of commuting when it comes to Pfeiffer.

Pro 1: Money

College is expensive no matter if you live on campus or if you live at home but it does save money to live at home and drive back and forth to school every day! It can cost around $11,000 to live on campus!! For $11,000 I can drive to school for 550 weeks at what I currently pay for gas a week!

Pro 2: I get to see my family every day

Every day I get to drive home and see my family. I get to have dinner with my mom, my sister, my fiancé and my stepdaughter. When I lived on campus I would have to wait until the weekend or a school holiday in order to see my family. I now have a closer relationship with my family and I don't miss stuff for my little sister and I get to take my stepdaughter to school every day!

Pro 3: Food

The food at my house is a lot better than the food I had on campus. Not only is it better quantity, I am able to eat anytime I want to. I am able to eat any time of the day that I want and I have more of an input on what I get to eat. I never realized how much I loved my mom's cooking until I lived on campus and I didn't get to eat my mom's cooking.

Now for the not so fun Cons:

Con 1: Not getting to see friends as much!

Even though I get to see my family more often I miss out on getting to see my Pfriends! A lot of my friends are commuters so we never seem to be on campus at the same time!

Con 2: Student Involvement

It is always great to be involved in things on campus and since Pfeiffer requires culture credits to be completed it is even better to be involved. When you commute it is hard to be involved because most things happen at night and if you live outside of Richfield it may be inconvenient to stay on campus that late so you miss out on activities.

Con 3: Less Sleep!

All college students LOVE their sleep and nap times. When living on campus you can go between classes and take a nap but you don't get to do that if you commute. Also if you have a 9:00am class there is a chance you have to be up before 8:00am. If you oversleep you don't have the luxury of just jumping out of bed and grabbing your stuff and running across campus to class.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
