Want to get involved in the K-State and Manhattan community? Well here’s some amazing organizations that will help you get involved on campus and in the community:

1. Alpha Phi Omega

A service based Greek Organization that volunteers within the Manhattan community.

2. American Red Cross Club

An American Red Cross affiliated club that helps on campus by organizing and volunteering Blood Drives, first aid at games, etc.

3. Circle K International

An umbrella organization under Kiwanis whose community involvement extends beyond the K-State/Manhattan community. This organization works much like a government with leadership opportunities ranging from local to international.

4. Food Recovery Network

A Food Recovery Network affiliated chapter that helps recover and serve food from K-State and Manhattan to redistribute back into the community to those who need it. This organization helps volunteer directly with people who need food and behind the scenes, collecting and distributing the food.

5. Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children and MedLife

Chapters of two separate organizations that help organize Medical Mission trips. These organizations not only help organization Medical Mission trips but also help educate and prepare people for Medical Mission trips.

6. Friends of Four Paws

An organization that is involved with volunteering with animals. Ideal for animal lovers, people who love to help animals, and people who want to be involved with animals.

7. Habitat for Humanity and Engineers Without Borders

A chapter of Habitat for humanity and Engineers Without Borders respectively that helps organize, design, and build structures. Ideal for people who want to help others inside and outside their community.

8. Rotaract Club

Organizes local and global service projects.

9. Students for Environmental Action

An organization that discusses Kansas politics, the environment, and helps recycle around campus. Ideal for people who love to discuss topics that involve politics, the environment, and helping others through environmental action.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
