Communication Is Key In An Often Silent World

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8

Communication Is Key In An Often Silent World

This week I was watching a volleyball game. During the match a ball was sent over the net and the team let the ball hit the floor. After that ball hit the floor the team seemingly fell apart for the next couple of plays. It was hard for the team to get back in their rhythm after that mistake of a lack of communication.
Communication is key in volleyball as well as other sports. In this instance, no one called the ball so it hit the floor while a couple of players waited for someone else to hit the ball. Many times I have seen this same lack of communication happen on the softball field. An easy pop fly hits the ground between two players simply because they both stopped going for the ball because they thought the other person was going to catch it.

Communication is also key in our relationships. Whether it be our family, best friends or significant other, no matter how well they may know you, they can not read your mind. So many times relationships crumble because one person or the other failed to relay information or one or the other did not listen. I am the worst to keep things to myself but then get upset because someone did not know what I was thinking. That sounds so silly but we do it all the time.

We can all agree that we find it hard to communicate on the court, on the field or in our daily lives. BUT there one source of communication that we should strive to seek every day and that is our communication with God.
Our communication with God should be one line of communication that should never be broken. God is so easy to communicate with, yet we fail all the time. All we have to do is speak the words and He is there and HEARS us every time! As well as, we have to listen to Him. We are not meant to do all of the talking; we have to listen to His guidance.

I am sure the girls on the volleyball court had a hard time hearing each other call the ball in a loud gym. When we try to communicate with our family or friends, there are always distractions making it hard to hear or hard to pay attention. But these barriers will never come between us and God. The only barrier that will blur the communication between us and God, is us. God never moves, it is us who forget to cry out to Him. Maybe we are too stubborn and think “I can handle this,” or we think “God doesn’t care about this,” butany excuse we use to justify a lack of communication with God is irrelevant.

We communicate with God through prayer. If we but ask God will provide in His time. God already knows what we need before we even ask. Isn't that amazing!? But He wants us to trust in Him and pour out our honest feelings to Him. He is a forever friend and is always by our side. Without continued communication with Him, we will fall apart just like the team did when the volleyball hit the floor. We always want to think we won’t let our teammates or family members down when it comes to communication but the only one who can insure a clear line of communication is our God!

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
