With the first semester of my junior year in college coming to a close, I've realized a few things. The main realization is to never leave long papers until the last minute; it'll save some sanity to start those early on. However, as I relaxed on the couch watching TV one night, I came to the conclusion that there are lots of Spongebob Squarepants GIFs that accurately describe and capture what it's like coming home for winter break.

1. The freedom to eat what I want when I want

Don't get me wrong; I can eat while I'm at school. But those meals are on a schedule, and sometimes my classes interfere with that schedule. Also, there's no guarantee I'll even like what's on the menu some days. When I'm home, at least I know I like the food. Plus, I can grab a snack whenever.

2. Sleep can be my best friend again

Being home means never needing to set an alarm for class for the next few beautiful weeks. I can sleep as long as I want and never worry about being late for anything.

3. More chances to see my friends

I know, I know; I talk about my friends from my first college a lot. But that's only because I love them so darn much! Thanksgiving break meant spending a whole day with them (after showing up unannounced of course) and having the best Friendsgiving ever. Now that I'll be home for about a month, I can only imagine all the other opportunities we'll have to hang out!

4. Hanging out with family

I'm not sure about the rest of y'all, but I love seeing my family when I come home. For me it means the opportunity to catch up on what's been going on in their lives. And, honestly, that's something that means a whole lot to me now that I don't technically live at home anymore.

5. Christmas!!

Whether it be Secret Santa events with friends, getting fancy overpriced holiday Starbucks drinks with more friends, or dinner at my grandparents' house - I freaking love Christmas time. And being home for break means getting to do all my favorite Christmas things with all my favorite people!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
