*Imagine* You just finished your last exam of the most grueling week of the semester; finals week. What are you excited for? Personally, I rush back to my apartment, pack my car, and start my journey home as soon as possible because I know a long winter break awaits me. Don't get me wrong I love college, but I also love the break. These are just a few of the best part's about being home for the holidays.

1) Being welcomed by your four legged friend.

Before you even pull up to the house you unbuckle your seatbelt because you know that sloppy kisses are waiting for you on the other side of the front door.

2) I guess the family is okay too...

After you embrace you furry friends you get to be surrounded by friends and family for the rest of the month.

3) Home cooking.

I'm an okay cook but nothing compares to my mom and grandma's cooking, every time I come home I make sure to get my fill...again and again and again.

4) You can sleep for days and no one will notice.

Please close the door on your way out.

5) Reuniting with old friends.

Picking up right where you left off with friends from your hometown is the best feeling. Now you have months of drama to fill them in on, so get started.

6) Complete relaxation.

Not having to worry about due dates, 10 page papers and spending hours in the library.

7) Binge watching.

"Are you still watching?" I'm offended. Of course I am Netflix, I have all day.

8) Visiting your favorite hometown spots.

My first stop home is always the same restaurant and it never gets old. I always look forward to visiting the places I am familiar with, I have to make my rounds every time I visit home.

9) Getting a fresh new wardrobe.

My mom hooks...me...up. Finally, somewhere other to shop than Walmart! My mom always tends to spoil me more than normal when I come home. You're the best.

10) CHRISTMAS!

I can barely contain my excitement! The absolute best part of being home is everything that leads up to/celebrating Christmas and participating in family traditions.

Happy holidays and enjoy your time home!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
