I’ve always loved superheroes. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved the idea of an average person becoming a superhuman gifted with amazing abilities tasked with saving the world.
It wasn’t until this past July when I really started getting into the comic book side of superheroes. A former boss of mine was hugely into Marvel and it was honestly though his influence that I started reading comics. My first comic book ever was Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet. And honestly ever since then, my affinity for comic books and superheroes has taken off exponentially.
I never thought I’d actually get into comic books. I sort of just figured I’d watch the movies and sort of figure out my way. But my former boss said just give the Black Panther comic a try. So I did. And I have been hooked ever since. I’ve read so many ever since July and my collection has grown a whole lot.
I’ve always loved Spider-Man and one of my all-time favorite comics is Maximum Carnage. I could go on and on about how epic that storyline is, but I want you to experience the magic of comics!
I think the main reason I like Spider-Man is because he, like so many other comic book readers, was the lone wolf in high school who sort of found his escape through being a hero. I think a lot of people need outlets to relieve their stress and kind of escape from everyday life. More recently, reading comics has become an outlet for me. I can pretend to be a hero in a fancy getup, flying around, saving the planet from danger.
Call me a kid, but I’m all about this kind of stuff.
I don’t ever see myself stopping reading comics and I have no idea how I lived before I got into this stuff. I’m always down to go to a comic shop and browse around for new comics as well as discussing theories with people who are down to talk about this kind of stuff.
To quote a professor, “life is too short to be ashamed of the things you love.”
