"For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack." -Rudyard Kipling, author of the Jungle Book.

According to Websters Dictionary, community means a unified body of individuals. In the new live action version of "The Jungle Book," it is very evident that through out the jungle there are "communities" of animals. The elephants are never seen alone. The wolves are a very tight pack and they all care for one another. When Mowgli gets isolated from the pack and the jungle, due to him being a "man-cub" or man he struggles with not having friends or family who will continually be there for him. I say all of this because I believe that there is comfort in having people who will walk through life with you and who will have your back. God created us to live within community.

Genesis 2:18 (NASB) "Then the Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."

God saw that Adam was alone and needed company, so God created Eve.

Jesus actually prays that the community of believers will be unified like Jesus and the Father are one!

John 17: 22-23 (NASB) "The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me."

In my family, friends, and church family, I know that there is always someone who loves me and will have my back. This could be exemplified in them sticking up for me or them giving me that kick in the rear when I need it. There is so much comfort in knowing that you do not have to walk alone through this life, especially if you know Christ because even when we fail one another, God is always there for us.

In the end of the movie, all the animals in the jungle stand behind Mowgli and show him that he does have a community to rely on and who has his back, because Mowgli showed the animals that he would have their back as well. Just like the fish of the sea or the animals of the jungle, you can find strength in community, because "the strength of the wolf is the pack."

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
