If you’re a student who is procrastinating to the fullest, look no further! Here are some of the hottest comedy television series in the game that could easily be binge watched in a matter of hours on a lovely, up-and-coming snow day!
Louie
For anyone who is a big fan of the comedian Louis C.K., or any comedian that pokes fun at their own habits of eating a surplus of ice cream, masturbating too frequently, smoking the reefer, and altogether being a single father, then this show is easily for you. Comedian Louie goes about his regular life and the familial and romantic happenings within them. A similar program would be any of Louie C.K.’s stand up.
Portlandia
Fred Armisen of "Saturday Night Live" now has a show wherein he and actress and comedian Carrie Brownstein live life in the “oh so 90’s and different” Portland. The two play various hipster characters throughout skits to convey this Oregon uniqueness that is self-proclaimed. A similar show would be "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Created by the lovely Tina Fey, this show is about an innocent woman from the Midwest who had been kidnapped for 15 years by a cult leader. Once found by authorities, she decides to make an entirely new life for herself in New York City to forget her past. This show satirizes “21st century problems” while still emphasizing a leading female role. A similar show would be "30 Rock."
Blue Mountain State
This show encompasses the very essence of STD’s, drugs, and football in the most “college” way possible. Anyone who wants to live out their wild school nights via Netflix, and not by actually going out to the bar should absolutely consider binge watching this hilarious program. A similar show would be "Friday Night Lights."
Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp
For anyone who loves Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Meloni, Michael Ian Black, Jon Hamm, or Judah Friedlander is recommended to binge watch this show. A prequel to the movie, this show is about a couple of counselors on their first day of summer camp. You MUST watch the movie "Wet Hot American Summer," it is required.
Master of None
Comedian and actor Aziz Ansari stars in this newer series that portrays the funnier side of dating and employment—essentially becoming an adult, which is relatable to us students who will be out from the Netflix marathons and into the real world soon enough. Similar programs would be any of Ansari’s stand up.
