Okay guys…I lied. My good friend Evan was very upset that I didn’t write about his favorite comedian so I decided to write one more article about him. This is going to be a short one though so do not expect a lot of detail. The comedian I’m talking about is John Mulaney. You may or may not know him from his (rather unsuccessful) show Mulaney. It was modeled somewhat after Seinfeld, but just didn’t have the same charm about it. What you probably don’t know about John is that he wrote for Saturday Night Live. To be more specific you may know the character Stefon, played by Bill Hader. Mulaney wrote for him. He tried as hard as he could to make Hader laugh by writing last minute lines that weren’t in the dress rehearsal. Here is an example...

He also has two stand-up specials. The first was in 2009 and it was called The Top Part and the second one was in 2012; it was called New in Town. New in Town is on Netflix so definitely check it out if you have the chance. It is pretty hilarious. I have never seen all of The Top Part, but I have seen parts of it and my friend Evan tells me it is great. Even though I did not think about him before, John Mulaney is definitely a really funny guy that deserves your attention. He just is not somebody I necessarily think about because he doesn’t do a whole lot. Do yourself a favor and think about him more often than I do. You won’t regret it.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
