Come On, Let It Go

It's time to move on.

Come On, Let It Go

“Letting go” — two words, yet such a powerful phrase. We all have to let things or people go at some points in our lives. Whether it’s a negative friend, significant other, or family member, removing negativity from your life is necessary.

Of course, it sucks. It’s hard and extremely depressing most of the time. However, you have to be very strong to get rid of negative forces in your life. Sometimes, your mind knows you have to let someone or something go, but your heart just can’t take it. Luckily, as humans, we are made to be resilient. We are made to bounce back from the worst of situations. It takes many people a very long time to realize their own strength.

The cold hard truth is people can be poison. People can be addicting. They can suck you into their mind games and tricks and you will fall for them. They will abuse you, not always physically. Abuse can also be mental and emotional. It might take years to realize, but I promise you will finally wonder why you continue to keep this person around. If someone makes you unhappy more than they make you happy, get rid of them. If losing them keeps you from losing yourself, it is more than worth it.

You will hurt but you will be okay. Eventually, you will be completely fine without them. Time heals all. One day, you will wake up and forget them all together. You are in control of your life. Make it the best life you can possibly live, with the most positive people you can surround yourself with. You have all of the power.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
