Comb The Desert's New Album, 'Middle Middle Vocal Chord' Blesses Speakers With It's Release

Comb The Desert is a hardcore/punk band hailing from Northern, NJ. The lads are no strangers the music industry and are ready to take the stage by storm on August 17. for KOHLFEST with Every time I Die, Impending Doom, and The Acacia Strain. Fans are lining up and super excited to head out to Reverb Nightclub in Heading, PA this month, so if you're in the area I urge you to grab a ticket! But before that, get to know the gang a little bit more and head on over to Youtube or Metal Injection to see their new music video for, 'Mudflood' exclusively out NOW.

1. How did you come up with the name, 'Comb The Desert?' Were there any other prospective band names prior?
'We were all writing music while watching 'Spaceballs' that particular day. Then somebody said, 'Comb the Desert' and for some reason we all started laughing about it. It was a tongue in cheek thing. I don't think we were actually looking for any band names just yet.'
2. So, you just released a new album, 'Middle Middle Vocal Chord.' Can you tell us a little bit about what inspired your sophomore EP's sound?
'We were experimenting with drop tuning and listening to a lot of contemporary hardcore bands like Code Orange, and Incendiary while writing this record. The lyrics are drastically darker and cryptic. Even the name of the album, we are hesitant to say how we came up with that.'
3. How did ya'll meet? How long have you been together as a band?
'Mike Justin and Kelly were friends since 2001 when they were all in different local bands in NJ. Joe met up with the band early in 2015 when we became known as 'Comb The Desert.''
4. What originally got you guys into music?
'Lots of answers, for some of us it was our parents/grandparents. For Joe, it was going to concerts during grade school. We can also thank bands that we were really into that got us to buy instruments such as Alice In Chains, Sound Garden, & Black Sabbath. We still carry on those influences in our sound.'
5. Which musician would be your go-to dream collaboration to work with on a single?
'Trent Reznor would be Mike's pick. It would be crazy to see what they would both come up with.'
6. Favorite song off the new album and why?
'They're all great. But if we had to pick one, 'Essential Spoils' is fun to play and vibe out to.'
7. What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?
'Gives grade A belly rubs! But bath time sucks.'
8. If you could describe your new album's sound using a breakfast food, what would it be and why?
'Haha! A breakfast quesadilla. Crunchy outside, fire inside.'
9. Do you consider Monopoly to be a game that you play with friends or enemies?
'Sometimes your friends become the enemy. Monopoly is notorious for seeing the Trump come out of them.'
10. Any advice for aspiring musicians who are starting out?
'Practice until your ready!'
11.) Can you tell everyone where to find you on social media?
'You can find Comb the Desert the easiest on Bandcamp, Spotify, & Soundcloud. OR follow us on instagram @combthedesertnj!'

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
