Many are fortunate to call Columbus, Ohio home. Others throughout the state wish they did. Many Ohioans flock to the state's capital for an abundance of reasons. There is something special about Columbus. It is a very young and fun area and that is mainly why it is so attractive to many people. The average worker's age in Columbus is 35 and one of three people have a bachelors degree, so that says a lot. So what does make Columbus so special?
1. Ohio State
When you think of Columbus, you almost always can think of Ohio State football. It doesn't matter what college you went to or anything like that. On Saturday's during the fall, everyone is an Ohio State fan. While walking around Bowling Green State University, you usually see more people wearing Ohio State stuff. In the state of Ohio. A vast majority are buckeyes fans.
2. Shopping
Columbus has lots to offer in the shopping department. Between Easton and Polaris you can definitely can spend some serious cash. If you don't spend enough money in those two places, you can definitely swing by the outlets in Delaware, Ohio. It is just a quick drive from Columbus. Columbus has a very good variety of shoppings so often many people travel to spend a day to shop.
3. The Short North
The short north is always a fun place to be. There are a ton of restaurants and bars. It has plenty of night life going on. It is the fun and hip area of Columbus and it definitely a great place to hang out with friends or family.
4. Sports
Most people only think of the Ohio State Buckeyes when it comes to sports in Columbus, but there is definitely much more than just the Buckeyes. The Columbus Blue Jackets are currently one of the best teams in the NHL. They are one of the few teams that have already locked themselves into the NHL Playoffs this year. The Columbus Crew are also very popular in the area. The Crew appears to be much better this year after a disappointing campaign last season. The Columbus Clippers are also in town. The Cleveland Indians affiliate has generated a lot of buzz thanks to the Indians success. Overall, Columbus is definitely a great sports city.
5. Ice Cream
Columbus has some of the best ice cream places around. Jeni's Ice Cream and Graeter's are pretty much to die for. They both are delicious but in a totally different way. They are always worth a trip if you are in the Columbus area.
6. Canes
Canes chicken is in Columbus. Nothing more needs to be said.
7. Craft Beer
Columbus can brew some beer. There are many craft breweries throughout Columbus. The Brewey district downtown is also a very fun place to be with lots to do and sip on a cold one with friends.
8. Fashion
The fashion industry is alive and well in Columbus. Columbus is home to Abercrombie, L-Brands (Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body, La Senza), Express, and Homage. That is just to name a few. Lots of big fashion companies call Columbus home. That has led to Columbus being ranked as the #3 fashion-forward city in the country.
As you can see, there is a lot of positives to living, visiting, or even go to school in Columbus. It is a fun area with lots to do. Definitely get out there and take advantage of all that it has to offer.
