As I am sitting here thinking about how I have been in college for two years now, I am reflecting about it a lot. First of all, I want to say thank you. Thank you for accepting me for me and all of my flaws. Thank you for spending numerous amounts of nights laughing until we cry. For getting to know what I am like and what pushes my buttons and for still sticking around. For being the first friends that picked me and are still sticking around. It takes a special group of people for me to open up to, so thank you for that.
In the several months that approached college, I began to wondering who I was going to spend my Friday nights with. Who I would attend football games with, school events, and someone who was going to go grab a bite with when we had nothing else to do. I never thought I would have a college family, who I spend almost every day with and talk to on a daily basis. I never thought I would have such a close group of friends like you all.
I know I will always have the support of my parents, but thank you for filling the spot for the time we are away from home. Thank you for showing up to different events when my parents cannot be there. I know that no matter what sport event, Greek event, or job, you all will always be there for me.
To My Boys: Thank you all for always making sure I have a ride home. Thank you all for protecting and posing as my boyfriend when a creepy guy comes up. Thank you for not only teaching me to dance, but still dancing with me when I beg and you don’t want to. Thank you for always making sure I have a date to formals.
To My Girls: Thank you all for fixing my make-up, going to get mani-pedis, for late night sleepovers. Thank you for watching chick flicks with me when I have had a long day. Thank you all for being some of the best girlfriends I have ever had.Thank you for making my pictures look good.
While I may get homesick when I am away from my real family, I also get homesick when I am away from ya’ll. Between all of our dysfunctional dining hall trips freshman year, late night food runs, dancing in the hallways of the dorms, and many more memories we have created; I will never forget them all. Every single one of you have taught me something and continue to teach me things. We have learned a lot from each other and I would not have it any other way.
We are not afraid to act like complete children in the middle of public because we never let each other do it alone. In the transition of becoming an adult, you numb the anxiety and panic and make me forget for a moment. We have made it 2 years and I know that our friendship is never going to end. We will be at each other’s graduation, weddings, and many more life events and probably move a part; one thing for sure, at least for me, is that every single one are family and nothing will change that.
Love Always and Forever,
Me
